  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

So as some of you may know from my previous thread , Bella was accidentally stood on the other night and she had x-rays yesterday, her foot is not broken but bruised and some broken tissue, when will she start to walk on her foot again normally and not hold it up like this? She seems to be in pain and not as lively and not eating as she normally would :(

It could be a while yet if she's bruised etc.

What pain medication is she on ?

If she's in so much pain, it's affecting her eating I suggest you take her back to the vet for ongoing pain meds (if she's not on them already :thumb:)

She's on ongoing metacam for life as it is for her tooth root pain and arthritis, she is on 0.7ml of metacam twice a day, then on half a fortekor tablet for her heart daily, the vet wants to see her again next week, its just not fair for her to have to put up with this aswell as her other problems :(

It may take a few days for her to start to put weight on her foot. Bruising can remain painful for some time, especially when pressure is put on the effected area. You could ask the Vet if it would be OK for you to apply some Arnica Gel to her bruised foot, it may help.

Just try to keep her eating and hopefully by Monday she should be less sore.
