Ellie has 'Bent Ears'! (and a big lump on her jaw)

Cari

Warren Veteran
Went to go to the vets today after Ellie's Cocci scare last week. We kept her on the antibiotics and surprise surprise there is nothing wrong with her the big faker!

Any who, our lovely vet says she has bent ears poor girl! I don't know if it will affect her at all, and I think they're cute.

She's got a huge lump on the right side of her jaw which I've got to keep an eye on as we know that she's got bad teeth but if it gets bigger or turns into an abscess its time for a dental. I'm worried about keeping a check on it, I don't want to miss something.

Is the Vet sure that it is not already an abscess ?

I assume so. Checked her teeth and her jaw. It feels hard like bone.

Could be tooth roots then. I would advise that she has skull radiographs taken at some stage so the condition can be monitored. Keeping the crowns of the teeth burred as low as possible and adjusting the occlusion can slow the rate of tooth root elongation. TRE is usually a progressive condition and so acting sooner rather than later re trying to slow down the rate of progression is necessary.

Thanks Jane. She had x rays which are being sent to the vets and she's going to have a look at them for me.

They are suggesting that if her teeth get worse and aren't managed well with burrred down then we really need to consider having them removed but she'd need referring to a specialist vet. I don't think it will help at the moment though and am loathed to put her through an operation which will leave her with only her front teeth.
