  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I had to take Corri to the vets this morning as she's barely moving and eating, vet said her gut is empty but can't find anything else wrong with her. So far I've given her 1 sringe fed and she's eating Woodlands Blackcurrant and apple leafs. Is there anymore I can do for her?

my bun Scarlett was not eating this morning,we took her to the vets and she had pain relief and gut stimulant and by the time we got home she was eating again, your bun really must have pain relief otherwise she wont start to eat. Please as Jane said get in touch with your vet asap.

Corri is going back to the vet early in the morning I have gotten her to eat little bits today. I've noticed her scratch her right eat a lot, thinking it might be mites even though she's just been treated for them

It may be an ear infection which would certainly be very painful so please do ask about pain relief if the Vet fails to offer it. Ear infections can occur secondary to ear mites, especially in Lop eared Rabbits.

How did Corri get on at the vets?
When a bun is not eating it really IS ESSENTIAL that they are given pain relief other wise despite any gut stimulants given they wont eat if still in pain.
