  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi my rabbit Lucy got locked out side in the rain last night by my partners idiot mum for about half an hour, we dried her off and she seemed fine. But today she is quite lethargic she just keeps lying down, she is eating, weeing, etc. She is warm and not cold but her belly is a little larger than usual not massively but I'm really worried she might have bloat, can anyone else think what may be wrong or am I just worrying, shes just being a bit lazier than usual. Thanks

I would of took her to get checked out at the vets if you feel her tummy is bloated

The vets will be closed tomorrow though I think its not severly bloated just a little but I could just be worrying, do you think she can last till Wednesday?

Just keep an eye on her make sure she carrys on eating drinking pooin etc an if ya still worried on weds get the vet to check her over but if she stops eating drinking pooin etc she will need to see a vet ASAP :) x

If you have any Infacol to hand, you might want to give her a bit just to deal with any suspected bloat? My vet advised me to give Boris 2ml per hour for 3 hours should he have any repeat tummy issues, you might want to give Lucy a 2ml dose and see if she perks up any.
