French Lop....info

bunny-boo

Warren Scout
what is their character like? anyone have one? I read they love the company of other rabbits too....please share your pictures :)

They are wonderful: big, cuddly, affectionate buns, rather like animated cuddly toys - or at least they are when they're well-bred.

Please ensure you buy one which has been fully-socialised; you don't want a big, stroppy or temperamental bunny whom you can't handle!

Hey :) I have 2 frenchies. I have had them for a year now, since they were babies, and they are amazing.

They do everything in slow motion and are just wonderful.

We get quite a few through the rescue too and on the whole, they have all been delightfully friendly. They are much better with their litter habits than my small buns!

I'll try and post some pics of mine later but if you search my started threads you should be able to find some. If you have any specific questions I'll be happy to try and answer!

Pretty much all rabbits love the company of other rabbits. And French Lops are one of my favourite breeds. Grim has some Frenchie in him and they are just gorgeous and so friendly. :)

They need a LOT of space though.

Harriet on the left, Alfie on the right.

Best way I can describe it is like having two puppies in the house. Puppies who've drank Red Bull.

yeh space isnt an issue i av a continental giant already whom i would aim to bond with. I am still reading about them at the moment all advice really helps x

I had a frenchie and he was such a character. I have other bunnies who are also characters, but frenchies are a lot more enthusiastic about everything! They really enjoy human company, but like other bunnies they do need a bunny companion.

wow they are beautiful xxxx

Thanks, I think so too :D

I think it varies a lot from bunny to bunny. A good example would be that everyone has said they love their people - I find mine are incredibly independent and will only tolerate you long enough to get a head rub. Other than that, you're staff ;)

Harriet used to be so cuddly before we had her spayed, and even after that. But now she's a wifebun she's far too grown up for cuddles. I miss it sometimes but I take comfort in the fact that they're happy together, that's all that matters really. Seeing them groom or snuggle is the best thing ever.

ETA: I also have an English rabbit, who I think is a lot calmer and quieter. She is also tidier - the Frenchies are huuuuuuuge slobs!

Where does the queue start for a tidy rabbit? Can it really be true?

I never said she was tidy, just tidier ;)

It's because she doesn't dig. Too sophisticated for that nonsense, she is. She'll just gracefully hop into the tray and lie there for hours, occasionally grabbing a single strand of hay. She's like Hyacinth Bucket, and Alfie and Harriet are Daisy and Onslow

I fostered a frenchie once, she was HUGE (well I thought she was but maybe she wasn't compared to other Frenchies). She was such a calm girly and so friendly and was very happy to have a fuss and a cuddle. She lived in my room when I had her and slept all the time until I went to bed, she would then hop around and it sounded like a herd of elephants running through the room.

She went to a lovely home.

Oh, hopes are dashed! All mine have always been terrible house destroyers. Food, poo, hay, litter are everywhere and lots of fluff too. Oh for a tidy bun! I'm a big French lop fan. I love all buns but love big animas and lops best of all. The chaps have all been big gentle giants. A lovely breed.

Aflie and Harriet have, I'm sure, cost us our deposit with their penchant for carpet and wallpaper, as they did with the last place. Cheap pets indeed

The chunky little bodies and floppy ears though

I am thinking a frenchie doe and my conti boy will make a great pair...fingers crossed!!! thanks for sharing...but I wanted more pictures.....!!! lol  xx
