The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. swelling above eye - combined vaccine?

I took two foster bunnies for the combined vaccine the Friday before last, and I have noticed today that they both have small swellings above their eyes. It isn't anything big, almost a bit like an inflamed spot. I have no idea if it is related to the vaccine or not, but it was the first thing I thought of as they were vaccinated so recently.

Another possibility is that it is some kind of trauma, as these two had to be separated after falling out, so they *could* have hurt each other before they were separated. It would be a bit odd if it was that though because I didn't notice it at the time and I did check them both over after I witnessed the tussle, and the sores are in exactly the same location on both rabbits.

I can't see any other sores on mouths/noses or genitalia. They are eating and behaving normally.

Has anyone else had anything like this after the combined vaccine? I'm waiting for the vet to call back, but I expect I will be taking these two in for a check up later. Poor little ones :(. I am so scared that it is real myxi, as the vaccine won't have had a chance to take yet.

Although not mentioned on the product Data Sheet as being a possible adverse reaction I have heard of it happening before. Quite surprised that it has happened to both of them though :?

Thanks Jane. Yes, it is a bit of a mystery. They are brothers so might they have the same reaction because of that? I am desperately trying to keep calm about it, because they are young and this would be the first time they have been vaccinated...so I suppose they are also at risk of it being real myxi?

Will see what the vet thinks...it's useful to know that other bunnies might have had a similar reaction to the vaccine.

I *think* it was bunnymadhouse who saw the reaction in some of her Rescues. So maybe PM her as she might not see this thread.
