  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Advice on giving ear drops please

margarita

Young Bun
My Margarita has red ears inside but not an infection so the vet gave me some drops. She got the drops at the dr and i was able to give them to her the next morning after i finally got her in a towel. Now she sees me coming with the towel and bolts! I tried with out the towel and she will not let me grab her, if i do then she goes wild. I dont want her hurt her or scare her but i need to give her her meds. Does anyone have any advice on how to get her to not freak out. I have tried everything possible, food, laying with her, treats. Shes very fast and a little to smart :)

I also have a call into the vet to see if there is an oral medicine i can give her. She takes meds from syringe without any problems.

Thanks so much!

Sorry I can offer no advise as I (touch wood!) haven't had a problem with my rabbits' ears. Just Pip's eye but I think she like it as she let me do it every morning when I needed to do it.

Just bumping this up so that others can see.

Thanks, eye drops are not a problem for her either it just seems to be something going in her ear that makes her uncomfortable.
