  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Xeno mites treatment?

I was prescribed Xeno 450 for Pippin's mites and today was the final treatment. It's been a month since the vets appointment so I had to put two of the little tubes on the back of her head/neck area. I had only ever done one tube before and that was fine, made her fur go weird but soon disappeared. She groomed it lots and must have ingested a bit but I assumed that was fine.

Today I put the two tubes on and I had to rub it in a bit with my fingers because it was like one big blob that was going to drip, I rubbed it in and it made her look wet if you know what I mean. She them groomed it for ages and ages, I kept trying to stop her and now she's eventually stopped. It's dried into her fur and I'm worried it'll stay like that and she'll get cold there :(

Am I being a drama queen? She's not really grooming it now I'm just worried that it's like that and it never has been before.
