I decided to drive down The Embankment this morning (in my pjs on the way home from McDonalds ) and saw how massively flooded it was, so I went home grabbed my camera and took some photos!

Here are some befores to give you an idea how it looks normally

Normally, the tree is on a small hill and that field behind is totally seperate

In the top left corner is a brick bridge

That bit of raised wood on the right is actually a picnic table

That is scary. We are so close to the river and if it increased like that, it would be right at our door. Apparently there are weirs and flood barriers so not very likely and hasn't happened since the mid 1980's.

Oh my god! Our fields around here are lakes .. it's pouring into the roads too :( still, and it's not even raining yet!

Thankfully the embankment isn't close enough to houses to be a threat but there is a flour mill right next to it, I'm not sure if it's still open because of the flood!

bet the swans a ducks enjoyed it

they looked really confused  the currents were so strong you could see them and the seagulls kept floating down stream :lol:

thankfully the road wasn't affected! The horse field is across the road from the embankment, I don't know whether the road flooded and spilled into the field or what but the road is dry now :? it was pretty wet last night when I drove down there

I might go back with my wellies on tomorrow (and a stick so I can make sure I stick to the path!) I really want to see how deep it gets

Ooohh, dont do that, you might slip or fall......

Thats absolutely horrific. Its so scary that this happening with increased frequency.

I dont know aboit you folks that live beside watercourses but I habe found it more and more difficult to get an insurance company that will insure me. I live next door to an urban watercourse, a burn that runs into a water culvert. Its about 10 metres from my door and it scares me........

Its been very high this year

The beck at the back of our house has burst and the garden two doors down is flooded as are the allotments at the end of our garden. Don't worry though, the house is high up and the buns are on the terrace which is 4 feet above garden level if ur did get to us.

Dont worry, the paths are very wide and I don't think I'll be able to go very far as I think it's going to go above my wellies  I want to get onto the bridge (which is easy peasy and doesn't mean going near the edge) and prehaps the picnic table although that's on grass so probably not as I don't want to get my wellies stuck!
