Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Drinking a whole bowl of water in 4 hours!!!

I've been having problems with Buster drinking excessively (650-800mls per day) as well as other problems. Just awaiting results from vets. Added a probiotic to both of their water a couple of days ago following Buster having a GA and a course of antibiotics.

Now Thumper seems to be following suit. He's drunk a whole bowl of water in 4 hours which is 350mls! I'm pretty sure they are so bored on their own but until any health problems are ruled out I can't get the bonding started. Could it be boredom? Could it be they like the taste of the probiotic? Thumper in particular is going through a very heavy moult and his poo was strung together once today. He has not stopped eating hay since about 7pm, only stopping to do the odd binky and drink water. Still pooing and weeing lots.

My buns are baffling me! Any ideas?x

Thanks Elena. It is a powder, called Pro-C.

That's what I thought, although they've had this particular one in the past without the same effect :? May try sprinkling it on their food instead. I should hear from the vet tomorrow with Buster's test results so will mention Thumper to him then x

Yeah that sounds familiar, I think that was the one I tried. The protein are really good and my lops loved them.

If your using a probiotic in water, I'd recommend mixing it in the normal (daily water intake 50-250ml depending on other factors) and then once that's drunk go back to plain water for the rest of the day... if you're not there to monitor and top up provide one of probiotic water and one of plain. That way they don't keep drinking and drinking cause it's tasty... it at least limits it a bit :)

Totally agree with this bit and something we've had to do on numerous occasions :)

Thanks for the advice, will do that today. Just hoping Buster's test results don't show something like EC which Thumper could also have. Fingers crossed x
