The bunnies have moved into their aviary! LOADS OF MASSIVE PICS ADDED

*Funny*Bunny*

Warren Veteran
It's taken 2 months longer than I wanted it to...... But it's finished and the bunnies moved in last night!

The floor is not brilliant... I laid patio slabs myself for half of it and the other half is a patio that was already there but was rather broken up with a few half slabs missing. It does mean there's the odd spot of grass sticking up and a half slab that's raised up from the rest of the patio level, but oh well the bunnies don't mind!!!!

They've gone from 38sqft to a 72sqft aviary with a doubly storey 4ft hutch and a single storey 4ft hutch (which I'm going to provide them a way to climb on top of this as well)

I laid down in it earlier and Lilly was tooth purring as I gave her kisses on the forehead :D I think they like their new home :D

I'll be putting pictures up later! And hopefully Harvey and Lilly will do some nice posing for the photos!

And here's a quick video of them climbing :) Harvey has a little difficulty getting down from the top of the hutch but either he's mastered it or has stopped going up there because I've been checking and haven't seen him stuck up there!

It looks a bit empty at the moment, I have a couple more toys to put in though, although they're enjoying running the full length of their run so I don't want to clutter it up too much!!

They have a nice lot of space now and safe. Does the ramp go straight to the side of the hutch as if it does this is why your rabbit can't or doesn't want to go up and down as the turning angle is bad if you follow me.

Woops I wasn't very clear with that comment, they can both get up and down the ramp in the double hutch really well :) I know what you mean about the turning circle thing but they manage it without any difficulty! The one he struggles getting down from is the hutch next to the dig box, he jumps on and then forgets how to jump down! He'll work it out eventually, hopefully he'll copy Lilly :) I'm keeping regular checks on them for now though :)

Looks great, they're so cute:love: bet they're loving all that binky space!

I really hope they do binkies soon! All that space and I haven't seen a single binky yet even with Lilly being a little trigger-happy when it comes to binkying! I like to think they're binkying when I'm not watching :p I've seen lots of playing and running though :thumb: they've been snuggled for a while now though

So after a rocky Saturday night where I forgot to put the ramp up to their top bunk  effectively blocking their bedroom off :( they seem to have settled perfectly :) I left them snoozing in their bedroom at 930 last night and when I checked this morning at 730 they were in the same spot still asleep! If it wasn't from the evidence in their dig box they could've been there all night!!! They came down for breakfast but then promptly went back up stairs and fell asleep again  lazy lazy rabbits!!!

Oh well at least they've had go at using their dig box :thumb:

Yep they will, it's quite sheltered anyway, the roof is corrugated plastic, the back wall is up against the brick wall and one side is up against the fence, they have both hutches to use for shelter as well, and in there old setup they'd generally use them when it was raining (although they'd sometimes play in their run in the rain too  although not very often luckily!)

Mine had their hutch and 2 runs that were covered and they would still sit in the rain! they try it now but it's easier to shut them in the shed and spoil it for him

I do have some tarpaulin I can put up on one of the exposed sides if the rain is really bad and the wind is in a bad direction. Harvey is like your buns, he loves the rain, Lilly would rather not be out in it though, and Harvey lives her more than he loves being in the rain so chooses to curl up with her in their hutch

Quick update!

I've been spying and I just saw MASSIVE binkies from Lilly! She ran around the whole aviary at least four times, super fast and was doing binkies as she went!!! She then continued to play with her toys and every so often did another binky :) one she jumped over four feet forwards doing it!!! She's much happier with all the space

That looks awesome lucky bunnys  I would just be careful with that hook that's hung down where there dig box is just Incase they jump up and get caught on it :)

Thanks :)

The hook is there from when the hutch wasn't in the aviary to hook the lid down for some extra security. It's a really blunt piece of metal and it's hanging very freely on an eyelet thing so I can't imagine it could get caught on them, I've left it up there because I catch them playing with it a lot  but I get your point so I'll unscrew it soon, I wouldn't want them to have any accidents!
