No......:( U/D: Local vet will not treat him.

Just got to my mum's to find that Boris is very poorly

He has lost a dreadful amount of weight and his eye + nose are so runny

No idea if any vet will be able to help, last time I spoke to them they all wanted him PTS.

Don't know what to do at all, there's only a tiny bit of Septrin left, I doubt it'll last more than a few days

Help me please. I just feel like crying

Oh no! So very sorry. Do hope that you'll find a vet who will be able to help him.

Thanks, I just feel so helpless  I just don't know. What the hell am I supposed to do!? If no vet will help me, I don't see how he's going to get through this  maybe this is the end

Do you want to ring or email a vets here in England and see if they will talk to your vet and advise them?

Maybe...my rabbit savvy vet thinks its unwise to continue treating him with the antibiotics when a diagnosis hasn't been made; he has never been officially diagnosed with pasteurella, but since ALL the symptoms point towards it, it's what he's been treated for. He's always responded extremely well to the Septrin which, I think, rules out other possibilities as well. The plan all along has been to bring the buns with me to Stockholm where I'll have better access to good vets, but this cant be done until he gets more stable. I dont think I could bring him anywhere now, the state he's in  I was thinking that if I explain all this to the vet she might reconsider not treating him, but I honestly don't know

Oh I really feel for you, this was what you feared when you moved out isn't it :(

I don't really have any additional advice aside from seeing whether the vet will give him more drugs as his condition has declined, but didn't want to read and run. ((Hugs))

From our Boris to yours...lots of vibes. Can't offer any advice but you're both in my thoughts.

It has been my worst fear all along  Ever since I left him with my mum, I had a feeling it would eventually come to this. I so regret not taking him with me last time when he was doing better  I should've known this wasnt going to work out

Thanks for the vibes everyone. The little man seems ok in himself, but hes so thin it scares the daylights out of me  hes happily taking treats so I'm spoiling him a little. This is the worst he's ever been, definitely. And yet he keeps fighting. He was so happy to see me, bless his little heart. I know I shouldn't think like that yet but if this does end badly I'm glad I'm here with him, at least. He's definitely missed me  Im going to keep fighting for him as long as he wants to, but if he wants to give up I don't blame him. We've been fighting this disease for over a year now and he's been so brave.

Oh my gosh, my heart sank when I saw the title against your name

Feel like we are in this together.

Please get vet advice asap.

Wishing you all the best xxx

Thank you. I've just recieved lots of snuffly kisses  He literally wouldnt stop. It's as if he knows I'm worried and trying to comfort me, the little darling. I'm always surprised at how bright he is despite everything, no matter how awful he feels he always greets me by the door when I go downstairs :') Looking up at me all excited

The rabbit savvy vet is difficult to get hold of, expecially during weekends, but I'll email and text her tonight and hope she sees it asap. Fingers crossed. I feel like she's our last hope atm, literally don't know what I'll do if she says she still wont treat him :cry::cry:

I know you've been here before and I can't remember the details and outcome (sorry!) but if she is reluctant to treat further as she thinks its the end of the road, could she be persuaded to make a referral to a rabbit specialist in the UK? I really can't see the problem for her to do this if you are willing to try it and pay for it. I know referral vets don't always see the patient but can advise the treating vet after reviewing notes/discussing etc. Although it's possible that she's right and there is no further to go (I really hope not ) at least it's worth looking at ALL the options. If you tell her it's what you want (and can/need to do some of the arranging), I can't see grounds for refusal.

I really hope you can improve his health again, it must be so hard seeing him so unwell.

Come and stay at mine for Christmas and bring bunnies to see my vet.

Or you could come over here and bring your vet along to do a bit of erm....charity work? ;)

Seriously though, if he was in any condition to travel I'd bring him back with me to Stockholm without even hesitating. I don't even care what my landlady says anymore, I want them with me  I was planning to wait until he was more stable and a few weeks ago it looked like we were getting to that point, and then this happens :( There are amazing vets over there too. Perhaps I could get them to give my local one advice or something. I don't quite know how the referral thing works  but over here I think there's a law that says that a vet cant give any meds without examining the animal, in person. I'll have to investigate this though.

That would probably still work ok if you vet consulted with someone with more expertise and they advised her to prescribe/treat in a particular way because she would be the one giving the meds and making the final decisions, so therefore the vet prescribing the drugs would have examined the animal.

I've never actually had an animal referred but I assume you just find a vet with the speciality you want who takes referrals and then the treating vet sends them the paperwork you want them to advise on. There might be a particular form or something to fill in but it should be a really simple process.
