Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Dewlaps?

Do only female rabbits get these? My male rabbit seems to look like hes got a double chin...i have checked it and there is no lumps or anything its just fur. Is this normal?

In the wild I don't think you would find ay rabbit with a dewlap. It's sometimes due to a rabbit being overweight. My Bobby who is 6 now is getting a bit big around his throat area. Bobby lives for food of course (you mean there are other things he would say?) and I have to be very careful how much I am giving him but I think he still gets too much. It's very hard with him. How old is your rabbit?

Hes 6 months old and my worry is hes getting over weight. He never stops looking and begging for food. I have 2 rabbits so its hard for me to contol how much he eats to my other one. May have to feed them seperate to see if that helps. I have 2 children too who think the should give them treats cos they look hungry....(in their eyes not mine). Think i will have to register him for weight watchers...lol.

Has he been castrated?
Animals can be prone to weight gain post neutering. I would definitely watch his food intake, cut out anything sugary like carrots and apples and reduce pellets to an egg cup amount once a day (or less if thats what he is already on)

Failing that, are you sure he is definitely a male?

Yes hes been done....Thanks for your advice i will give it a go. Is it ok to give him lots of veg and hay to make up for less pellets?

I would stick to the egg cup full of pellets a day (decrease it slowly though if he's been on more), unlimited hay and the normal amount of veg for him. Definitely cut out the treats though if he is getting a bit podgy!

My Bugsy is 5 and has a dewlap..but he is a big bun and has been on a diet for a couple of weeks now (decreasing their pellets down by 3g each day) Problem I have is that I have 4, Pebs has to be fed separately as he won't eat hay and is a dental bun (he has 18g pellets 3 times a day) The other 3 share their food..18g 3 times a day between them, so roughly 18g each/day). However Poppy and Chloe are losing weight and Bugsy is still gaining weight  so I'm going to have to feed him separately too!
