Park Veterinary Practice, Raynes Park

Pixsmudge

Young Bun
I just wondered if anyone's had any experiences with this vet practice?
Bit of a long story but I took my bunny Smudge there when I noticed she was dropping her food and found her lower incisors/gum area a little inflamed with what appeared to be a little pus. After a week of baytril treatment what had looked like something caught in her gum revealed itself as another tooth.

I changed my vet to this practice as they have a bunny vet but when I went there I wasn't that impressed with him. One vet there dismissed Smudge's teeth problems as GI stasis and treated me like an idiot and when it didn't get better I saw the bunny vet Tim who couldnt diagnose her problem and was extremely pessimistic over her treatment and recovery as she has kidney disease. I suggested it could be fractured teeth which he quickly dismissed then seemed to run with as it was his only explanation. He told me and I quote "perhaps the best thing here is to make her comfortable as she isn't going to live till shes 12". Naturally I found that very upsetting when my beautiful 9 year old bunny who looks 2 is happy and doing brilliantly.

He claimed only an expensive rabbit dental expert could help and when I mentioned I would be seeking another opinion from the Corner Surgery in Sutton he got a bit sulky and said the vet there, David, wouldn't be able to help.
It was obvious she had a root tooth infection but I found Park Vets dithered a lot and wasn't too bothered about leaving her to suffer really...he saw her twice and failed to see her lower incisors were extremely discoloured and wobbly.

I took her to David and he diagnosed fractured teeth and a root tooth infection straight away, pulled the offending teeth out while she was concious and prescribed a month and halfs worth of depocillin. She is continuing to see David for treatment as he is attempting to straighten her teeth as best as possible without putting her under anasthetic. Quite frankly the mans brilliant and I have no idea what I'd do without him.

To add insult to injury I felt Park Vets dragged the whole thing out into three seperate consultations when it wasn't neccessary, charging me three consults at £30 a go as well as nearly £20 for a tiny bit of baytil. They delayed Smudge's treatment by 2 weeks which left me outraged as we all know time is precious with our little ones when there's something wrong.

I put my faith in this vet knowing he was RWA approved, assuming he'd be good..knowing he specialises in rabbits and dentistry. I just found myself really upset by it all because I feel Smudge and I didn't get the best treatment :(

I am not attacking this vet or slagging off the surgery, I just found my experience with them very unhelpful and wished to know if anyone else goes there, if they've had any similar problems etc.

Thank you

An old neighbour of mine uses Park Vets for her bunny, some of the things that she says that they tell her make me wonder if they know what they are talking about. I don't have any experience with them though.

We use David and can't recommend him highly enough. If it were me I would keep going to to vet that you have confidence in :)
