Parsley off for another CT scan today . . UB Post 7 results

parsnipbun

Wise Old Thumper
Long story - but a proposed op. on his eye which has had a slight regrowth of the melanoma was cancelled due to anaemia -

we have to check whether the anaemia is due to metastisising cancer of whether as a result of very long term ear infection.

If long term ear infection they now feel there is nothing to do but an op on the bulla - as he has tried EVERY abx ever tried (and some I think never before tried on buns. . )

so the first step is another CT whole body scan to assess whats going on -

of course this is risky due to all his other issues (anaemia affects the anaesthsia).

So worrying times. .

He is completely blasé about it - spent last Friday at vets eating on stop and petrifying them by doing dead bunny flops . .

Bless him! Hoping all goes well and that the results indicate a clear and manageable way forward...

Sending loads of vibes for your special boy

I really hope you get good news that it's the "best case scenario".

Well the vet has just rung with the preliminary results. .

they havn't been able to do all the minute details of running several contrast imaging etc yet - but first interpretations of the full body scan indicate that he is cancer free (apart from the melanoma on the eye that is). So the aneamia must be due to the inner ear infection (and the infection in a cut in the flap of the ear that he has at present).

She has looked at the infection inside the ear/bulla/brain etc area - it HAS grown from 2 years ago and is now c2cm BUT we are very very lucky in that it has expended outward up the inner /middle ear etc rather than inwards any further into the bone of the brain etc (sorry - my knowledge and inner ear/brain anatomy still not brilliant).

Originally the old CT scan of 2 years ago showed it up against the division between ear/brain and it was assummed it woud eat away at that and burst through - but it hasnt .

SO now she is wanting to talk to us about an ear canal/ bulla removal - as she feels with the anaemia this bad that that would be the only way forward.

Obviously this is dangerous - but we are just very very grateful he does not have cancer in the lymph/liver!

One step at a time . .

in Jan 2011 she was ringing us to say she had seen the inner ear infection on the original CT scan and to 'take him home and enjoy him for the few days he has left' . . . since then he has astounded us all (not least with the head humping accident and penis partial amputation, and being the first bun to have the canine melanoma vaccine .. . )

So pleased that the scan shows no cancer, other than the small part on Parsleys eye. Its good he is so relaxed about the vets too.

Sorry about his ear infection and the complications it presents. Sending your lovely boy mega vibes.

I'm in haste so haven't read the update properly, but just wanted to send continuing vibes for Parsley. xx

A relief that the cancer is still localised and that there is a way ahead. Hopefully he's going to be around for a good while yet, with such a fighting (not to mention h***ing) spirit....
