  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I need to buy needles

I'm going through a lot of needles at the moment with these injections. I'm using the blue needles (no idea if that's a universal colour or just this brand) but they say 0.6 x 16mm and 23G x 5/8. Which I hope makes things a bit clearer  :?

Does anyone have any recommendations of reputable and good places to buy needles online? Preferably places you've bought from yourself and had no needle problems with.

Thanks in advance :)

VetUK sell them, thats where we got ours from as the vets started charging, whereas before they just gave them to us for nothing.

I use Vet Uk too. Terumo needles are blue for 0.6 but have also had other brands in the past and I don't remember them being coloured but I imagine there must be some protocol to ensure that at a glance the vet/vet nurse chooses the right size. (will ask at work). I think I paid about £8 for 100.

Jane you win hands down, thanks! Big applause from here!

I have used them for a few years and they have not let me down yet. Even if they are out of stock on a specific item they will make contact with you, inform you of suitable alternatives and if said alternatives happen to be more expensive they will Price Match with the item you originally ordered. I have bought nebulisers, stethescopes and otoscopes from them too.

And no, I am not on commission !!

I'm liking this!

You will often find that medical equipment sold via Veterinary Websites is MUCH more costly than the exact same product sold for human use. No idea why though :?
