Im in a quandry...

P&D live outside in a two story 5ft hutch with 6ft run attatched...they are happy enough out there but I bought them a shed...Iv never got round to getting the shed sorted but thats being finnished this week as someone is coming to do it for me!

We are adopting Lucky and hope from BARC this weekend  cant wait to bring them home :D They are going into a shed aswell (they are going to be fairly big buns!)

Then this morning on my local rescue/bunny boarding a lady posted offering her trio of french lops (mum, son and daughter) free to a good home as they are living in a two story 6ft hutch with no run and she has no time for them anymore/free ranging isnt safe as there is foxes in her garden :( the rescue is full and doesnt have the space to take a trio that large...

Now hubby has said that I can put them into a 6x8ft shed with a 6ft attached avairy but i cant have three sheds :? so Lucky and hope will go into a shed regardless but the toss up is that I can either rehome the trio into a 6x8 shed with 6ft attatched avairy but P&D will have to stay in their hutch and run :? or i can put P&D into a shed and not rehome the trio and just hope they go to a good home :(

Time isnt an issue...iv worked out insurance costs etc. The buck is neutered...the girls not so i need to factor that in...they are due vaccs this week and she is going to get them done...she sounds like she loves the buns but genuinly doesnt have time for them anymore :( I buy hay by the bale so thats not an issue...I am trying to source a local stockist of a&p pellets/cheaper option than SS.

What would you do?

ETA all buns are friendly but the younger two dont like to be handled... mum is cinamon colour, the daughter is agouti and the son is solid black

Personally, I would do the best for the pets I already have. It's nice to rescue, but not at the cost of my own pets' happiness.

Thanks for your replies :) i wouldnt do anything to make poppy and daisy unhappy and if they were already in the shed then i wouldnt ever of considered moving them back to the hutch... its just horrible seeing trios tryong to get into rescue knowing they will likely be there ages even if they do eventually get a space :(

Humm, difficult... sounds like you want them! And it sound like you will do the best for the animals you have... once you have them, should you decide to do so, I'm sure you would do the best for them.

I've just been offered a rabbit who was found under a car! I'm in and out of the vets at the moment because my cat is very sick with something that needs specialist surgery, and I just had my new bun spayed... the receptionist mentioned that this rabbit needs an experienced home, that she's a bit of a problem bun... now I haven't started bonding new bun to Harvey, and I have the time and means right now... but was I thinking about taking on another trio??? Can I say no??? Will I have nightmares??? Difficult decisions for those with less than a stony heart.

I'm sure you will make the right decision. Just be sure not to stretch yourself too far. An extra trio is quite a commitment, but oh what fun.

Thanks for your reply...I just dont know what to do...just wish i had a bigger garden :( I know that my garden would be at capacity then if i want the kids to have any space at all!!

It sounds like you have enough accommodation for all of them. Frenchies are laid back so I hear, so wouldn't need acres! I'd go for it.

I can offer the frenchies 6x8 shed with an attatched 6x6 avairy, then lucky and hope would have the 6x4 shed with 6x6 avairy and Poppy and Daisy would have the 5ft double hutch and 6ft run that they currently have (plus I can add a puppy pen to theirs for supervised access too...we do that now and it works quiet well) :) and then i can in time replace their hutch with a shed...

I have sourced somewhere local to get allen and page pellets from (same place i get megazorb from) and the farmer will deliver hay to me as and when i want it...

Hmmmmm... hubby very helpfully said it was up to me :lol:

Ooooooooooooooooooor... In time you can bond them all into a group and have them able to access both sheds and aviary runs :thumb:

Ohh that's tricky! Wow you's have a lot of buns!

Could you get a mahooosive shed and section it into two parts with a run on each side so that Lucky and Hope have one side and Poppy and Daisy on the other? :)

Then get another shed for the frenchies? :D In time you could bond P,D,L and H!

I already have the 6x4 and 6x8 sheds so want to stick with those really but yes in time i could attempt a bond between p,d,l,h

It would take me to 8 for now!
