  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I don't remember it costing this much last time! Is this the usual normal cost?

Apparently she's fine, just waiting for the say so to pick her up.

This sounds a very reasonable charge to me. I've paid up to £150 - although there were some complications with this particular spay.

Wow that's loads. I pay £56 with an amazing vet, in quite an expensive village. I think I have got lucky!! x

Yup that sounds reasonable. You could ask what is included in that price, ie checkup and meds.

We've paid between £90-£120 for the females and about £80-£100 for the males but this includes pain relief/check ups etc

I think it was around that for castrates at my vet when I asked in the summer. I was very grateful Stanley was already done when he arrived and Chilli was done at the rescue :D I'm guessing spays are more

can't remember how much tabby's basic fee was, but the after effects and dashing about in taxis cost me hundreds.

Most vets here (if they even do spays on rabbits ) charge anywhere between £100-£120. Neutering a male is around £80.

I've got four who need doing. Think that will have to wait until I find a job somehow. Just glad all the males have been done.

My usual vets In Hexham, Northumberland usually charge about £105 + for a rabbit spay, but I found one called Robson and Prescott that did it for £55. I think they have a few practices about and they were very good. I only heard of them as the rescue I go Bramble from recommended them as she uses them all of the time for castrating/spaying/vaccs/etc.

A neuter here is $50 and then + $5 for pain meds. But that's only one vet practice, one wanted $150 for a neuter

Not sure how much spays are but hopefully not that much!
