Gypsy was poorly last night

sparklefairy

Wise Old Thumper
I have no idea what was wrong. She was all hunched up and was grinding her teeth and refuseing to eat. She was fine just moment earlier.

I managed to get her eating fresh herbs and greens. She did drink water.

Big biosterous Storm was paying her a lot of attention and grooming her sad little face.

I didn't get a lot of sleep and ended up waking River, his room is right next to the bunny room. We are all tired today.

Gypsy is OK now. It's really strange :?

All sorts of things were going through my head like damage from the EC is showing it's self, myxi, statis, tooth pain ( which she has never had ) blockage, dying  I don't know if I'll ever know what was wrong :?

I'm glad she's feeling better today xx

Maybe she had gas and was a bit bloated and now it's gone. Doughnut was hunched up not eating when she had that. The vets sorted her out and within a few hours she was begging for pellets again!

Glad Gypsy is fine now. I don't think she is dying, well not from what happened with Sunshine. Its usually very quick. :(

Mr B does this occasionally. Last time we rushed up to the vets, When we got home he was fine.

Thank you everyone. It's really weird when they are ill and you don't know why, it always happens at night too :? and my hubby was no use at all!, just kept saying " well she's old," and refused to take the car out  she isn't that old, just 8 years and 7 months :D

I've heard lots of stories about people rushing their buns to emergency vets and them being OK as soon as they get there, naughty bunnies

aww poor sunshine

Oh I know the feeling. The second time Doughnut was ill I took her to the rabbit specialists as they gave her all sorts of tests, blood, urine, xray. It cost a few hundred and when I got her there the vet said she was the healthiest rabbit they had there! I guess I did panic though as didn't want her to be hunched up in pain and not eating so I took her too early, when she probably would have been OK that time. There again better safe than sorry I guess or a fool is soon parted with their money. Not sure which one applies:D

Until I joined RU I never realised how complicated bunny health is. Not like a cat or dog, they slowly change when they are unwell. Obviously there are times it is immediate but not always.

3 of mine died suddenly. Nancy was at the vets but been poorly all week and the vets where not savvy at all, they were sending her home, when she passed away. :(

Sunshine was very unwell in the morning, rang vets and got an appointment. He passed away in my arms a few hours later. :( But I could tell he was very ill.

Before I joined RU I was far less paranoid  I've been here for nearly all of storm's life and most of gypsy's  With my first bun, Bilbo, I did so much wrong. I didn't bunny proof and let him free range in the garden. I even let him eat my food  he was hardly ever ill. Sadly I thought that a clean house bun couldn't get flystrike, sadly I was wrong :cry::cry:

I'm glad gypsy is feeling better! And sorry to hear about Bilbo.
I did so much stuff wrong with my buns when I was younger, mind you I was only 7 when I had ny first bun.

No one could blame a 7 year old for making mistakes, hey I'm in my 30's and still get it wrong sometimes

I did try my best, sadly beauty died from dehydration and overgrown teeth :(
But I will say that after that my mum and dad took a better interest and helped me fir a while, and we built a massive hutch that would fit in with the recomended hutch size today :) as my dad felt the original hutch was far too small.
I'm glad I found ru though, id have hated to have made all the same mistakes with angel when I first got her. :)

aww poor beauty  I guess your parents probably felt a bit bad that they didn't help with her a bit more. It's great that your Dad built a big hutch :D A pet is a huge responsiblility for anyone, let alone a child. I think that we are all learning all of the time with bunnies. Most of us learn as we go along. I know I have. This place has helped me a lot, especailly last year when Gypsy had head tilt from EC

She may have had a gassy tummy. That can cause colic like pain and it can come on really quickly. Then once the gas is dispersed the pain goes and the Bun acts as if there was never a problem in the first place. We, however, may take longer to recover from the stress !!

DEFINITELY! i go into meltdown at the smallest sign of illness:oops::roll:

Yes! I definetly took longer to get over it all than Gypsy!. I still keep checking up on her to make sure she is OK. Gypsy is getting annoyed with me now
