Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Loads of jelly came out of Grim! *now with pictures*

Jenova

Wise Old Thumper

He's really, really bad at the moment and can hardly breathe. He was mouth breathing last night and I was going to ring the vets today to get him in. I came down to see him in the morning and he was still really bad, hunched in a corner where he doesn't usually sit and still struggling. (He has snuffles by the way). I'm working from home today so I went downstairs and set up everything for work, then went back to see him. He was sleeping calmly, no noisy breathing at all, and on the floor next to him were three lumps of white 'jelly'.

I'm assuming this is the infections coming out and he probably sneezed them out? They're quite big, each abut 2cm long. But now he looks so much better, so I'm just going to let him sleep. Has anyone experienced this before?

Sounds like a much more severe version of what Ginger gets, she snots out 'lumps' of white infection when she's really bad but they are like 5mm max, often less, like 2-3mm.

She always appears better after that too.

Not really much you can do about it though if you can't beat the reason for the infection, which i assume in Grim is properly deept rooted?

Yeah, the infection is spreading too. I guess that means the decongestant is probably working. I have no idea how he got them out, but that must be why he's been so bad for the last fews days as it was working up. Poor boy.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to take pictures of the 'jelly' when my phone has charged.

I rang the vets and they said that this reaction is normal with the decongestant he's on. Phew! And Grim does seem so much better now. :D

And now for pictures, please don't look if you're squeamish!

Jesus Jen, that is immense  Ginger's are NOTHING like that! Probably about 1/4 of the size!

Poor Grim but thank god that's coming out and not staying in, he must feel so much better for it

Ewwwww! I'm glad they're out though.....but I dread to think how he got them out

Hope he feels better not they aren't clogging him up

 My goodness, no wonder he was struggling so much :( He must feel light years better now thats all out, bless him.

 Why did I look before food shopping.

Poor Grimmie, he must be feeling so much better now that has come out. Deserves a good long sleep. Probably needs it.
