bunny cremation

Grattbaby

Young Bun
this may seem a tad depressing but i am wondering what to do when the enevitable happens. iv never had to deal with any rabbit deaths on my own.
when ours do pass, can we have ours cremated? where? and at what cost??

I had my Kermit cremated. He is in a lovely photo box at the side of my bed. The vets arranged it for me and it cost £80 for a single cremation.

I know that some people don't like the idea but I felt that I wanted him to remain in the house with me as that was the only place that he really ever was.

Yes, bunny cremation is possible. I've had to take two bunnies in the last two weeks. It cost £70 for a medium sized bunny. £60 for small breed and £80 for large breed. This is with Dignity our local pet crem. The price includes the rabbit being returned to the owner in a bamboo scatter pouch.

You can also have bunnies cremated in mass cremations without them being returned to you and I imagine this would cost less (not with Dignity but with company called Summerleaze who are in Wales - your vet can organise this when necessary I expect).

When my Baxter passed away I went to http://www.dignitypetcrem.co.uk/ they specialise in animal cremation.

I can highly recommend them, nothing is too much trouble for them. They do pick ups if you are in their area or you can take your animal to them, they do cremation whilst you wait if you arrange for this in advance otherwise you can pop back in a few days to collect their ashes.

Costs vary depending on the size of the animal and how you want them returned to you. By delivering and collecting from / to them it does work out cheaper than if you used the service of the local vet who would then subcontract to them.

There will be others around the country but do check if they also incinderate industrial waste if this bothers you. Some places do others do not.

I have always wondered this as it will be a long while before we buy a house and so cant bury our beloved pets and I would like to have them cremated so I can make a memorial I can go to, to greive and "talk" to them

i think its is good to think about these things as when the sad day comes its hard to think about it. I have no where to bury my bunnies so always get them cremated and the ashes back in a scatter box. I haven't been able to scatter them as don't feel i have a special enough place for them, so instead have had a special box made and I keep them all in there until the day I decide/or not to scatter them. i find it comforting to know they are still with me.
