A bonding number question.

When bonding groups, do even numbers work better than odd numbers.
Having only had duos and trios, which both worked, I wondered if odds or evens were generally better?
 
I would suppose ideally evens so there's never one left out but I don't think the reality reflects that? There isn't any particular pairings up within my big group that I've noticed.
