Eating after spay

Young Bun
Hi,

My rabbit Honey was spayed on Tuesday (she is 4.5 years old) and the vet said that if she wasn't eating by the morning bring her back today which I did, the vet advised to syringe feed her throughout the day, she kept her on a heat pad for a bit and gave her 2 forms of pain killers. I was given some medicine to give her this afternoon and this evening.
I am going back tomorrow, Honey seems herself but she is not eating, how long does it usually take for rabbits to start eating again?
I took her to Alfreton Veterinary Centre and they are so good and helpful and they know what they are doing with rabbits.

Thanks

When Perdy bunny was spayed we had to take her back to the vets as she wasnt eating too. It did take her a good few days to get over the shock but she was all fine again within a week. :)

Hope Honey bunny gets better soon.

Sometimes they need an extra metaclopromide injection to jump start their gut (one of mine used to have this).

I find apple, dandelion leaves (fresh or dried) and spinach are usually the first to be eaten after GA :)

Hope bun starts eating soon x

My rabbit was spayed at 5 years old in August - spayed on 21st, didn't start eating by herself until 30th August.

ETA: She was taking the occasional dandelion 5 days after but it still took another 4 days to eat pellets by herself. And hers was a rare case apparently!

Generally, does take between 1 and 3 days to start eating. But normally are eating by day 2. Don't panic by tomorrow you will see an improvement. If not, well it's back to vets.

I have been syringe feeding her the whole day and she is starting to let me do it which is good, she is drinking now which I hope is a good sign. The vets gave her the injection to get her gut going which is good. Hopefully we will see some improvement tomorrow.

Thanks

Poppy was 4 when she was spayed :) she didn't eat until the middle of the night.. Woke up to poos all over her pen

We did have to syringe feed her a bit but after a week she was totally herself eating wise :p
