Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Young Bun
I have booked my 4yr and 9month rabbit in to spayed on Tuesday and I was just wondering she is an outside rabbit but when I bring her back should I keep her in overnight or keep her outside?

Thanks

I have house bunnies, so I don't have any experience of this but from what I've read, bringing outside bunnies in after spaying can stress them out a lot, because they're not at 'home'. But I would think that a recently operated on bunny is stressed out anyway, and if she's inside at least you can keep your eye on her, and hopefully act quicker if something went wrong. Just my opinion.

I know this my sound stupid but when I was younger my mum bought one of our rabbits into the house for about a month over the christmas period and after that she put him back outside and he died shortly after, it has freaked me out ever since and I feel uncomfortable about bringing the rabbits in for longer then 10mins.

Am I being stupid? Ca you bring rabbits in the house for longer?
Sorry

They need to be kept warm after a GA as they can struggle to regulate their body temperature. Ideally this means bringing them indoors but can be difficult in winter, you don't want to leave them in for long or they will shed their winter coat and then go outside with a thinner coat than they need.
