  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Urgent!!! Adivce please!!!

My lionlop rabbit has just weed next to her litter tray and the urine is a bright orange colour!! She's a house rabbit, she's eating fine, she's had kale, alot of hay an she's been drinking water and pooing this morning and she's acting her normal self but I've never seen this colour urine before! I'm so worried, is something wrong with her?? Help please!!??!!

My Smudges wee is never 'wee' coloured always various shades of orange to red depending whats he has been munching! but i did panic first time i noticed as well!

As everyone else has said, it's normal :D My two's wee is orange from kale :D

The scary thing is when you see BRIGHT RED (just like blood) wee - mine find it funny to wee down the whole side of the shed with the bright red wee - makes it look like a blood bath horror movie  first time i rang the vet in tears in a panic.... (plant pigment from dandelion roots)

if it dries red / orange its ok.... if it dries brown theres a problem
