Olga, the possibly pregnant bun was spayed on Wednesday, it wasn't as straight forward as hoped and the vet nicked a bit of her small intestine. He stitched it up and gave her a course of antibiotics longer than normal. She is eating, but only forage, possibly some hay but its hard to know. She is passing some dropping so we hope she will be OK, I guess its just a matter of time to see how she copes.
Ebony, the aggressive bun is very overweight and today I felt a mass in her tummy beside her bottom. It was a pocket due to the fat and was full of pooh. I've cleaned it out and at least know to keep an eye on it.
Dorita seems to get quite a dirty bum regularly and also looks a bit stiff in the back legs, so does Domino and Clara- I do not know if this is due to inbreeding or lack of exercise. Domino also has some oldish scabs on his body and testicles, I can only assume he has been with another rabbit at some point, he may well have been the male to get to Olga ( although we were told it was Radish).
We had a lot of volunteers today, some of whom helped collect the bunnies and they could see a difference in their demeanor, more relaxed, interested and some lying completely stretched out. Some are OK at being handled and some are quite nervous ( even grumpy). I would love to keep them all but they will go to a better home and we cannot afford the time, space or money to go up to 30 rabbits.
I have changed some of the names-
Emo is now Hugo ( a cheeky little chap who is staying)
Kelvin is now Radish ( a little flufster- staying)
Tyson is now Domino ( I think the smallest adult rabbit I have seen and not sure as to how physically healthy he is- staying)
The 2 grey un-named girls are Olga and Ola.
Hairy Mary and Sister are now Clara and Martha.( both very flighty and staying, Clara looks odd on her back end too)
My friend is taking Cleo.
