Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Cecals

One of my buns has had cecals in her pen all last night and today.. The two get fed exactly the same diet - Mostly hay (unlimited supply) and they are constantly muching it, an eggcup of dwarf rabbit/junior pellets a day each (they are mini lop x lion head 13 week old buns), then a couple of types of different veg each day - their fav is lettuce/cabbage, cucumber & cherry tomatoes. She is the smaller of the two so it's not like she can't reach to eat the cecals. Any ideas would be helpful :)

I'm not that clued up on younger rabbits someone else might come along to help but I would't give them much veg at this age....definately not lettuce and I never give my buns tomatoes. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along though!

Agree, i wouldnt feed any lettuce or tomatoes.

You may find one of them has a slightly more sensitive gut than the other.

I'd cut the tomatoes and lettuce out - how much of the veg are you giving them, per day?

Ah ok then thanks i have heard this now and again but the breeder was giving them tomatoes and carrots at 8 weeks so i thought it would be ok:( don't think i had the best advice

Honestly some of the things breeders come out with that I have heard on here is shocking. I'm sure there are some very good breeders but then you get most that talk utter nonsense! I got one of my rabbits from a breeder and he said it was female....when i got back he started mating with my female and I looked and he had balls and a willy! I rang him to explain and he said it was definately female 100% and sometimes females look like males.... I even doubted it myself so I took it to the vet who confirmed he was male. The breeder also told me never to go to a vet just ring him for advice!

Aww:( yeah mine gave me two females when i asked for one of each as well, so they don't get on very well at the moment had to separate them untill after neutering. The breeder also gave me a bag of food to ween them off slowly so their stomachs don't get upset.. i only kept them on it for a week because even i knew that it was cheap and coloured muslei mix type stuff :(

Ok doke thank you. I was giving them probably a big handful each a day eek! this is the first poop problem we've had though so hopefully will get better. So what type of veg do you recommend for a little bit to eat, or non at all until 6 months? And should i increase pellets if i completely stop feeding them veg?
