Yuki is not good

Wise Old Thumper
Yuki has lost of her hind legs, the are sprawling all over the place, they are going near enough full out sideways at times... she is still able to walk but slips and slides and falls over, I am taking her to the vets again in the morning for now I have put her in a carrier with blankets etc.... so she doesnt put too much stress on her legs... I dont know if this is due to ec or something else... The vets I am with arent hugely good with more complicate things like this. They will put her on a dose of panacur to see if ec is causing it if she doesnt get better on that I have no idea what has happened.... normally when she has an attack of ec her head tilts.... shes still very into her food and happy and playful...

If its not ec, and is muscle or bone issues does anyone know of anything or any vets that can help her? she is finding it very difficult to move about I am in the process of putting matting down to make it easier for her... shes still herself and happy though...

I am terrified it will be something that will get worse and ill lose her...if its something which means she has to have therapy and a wheelchair etc... I will do anything....

Shes not in mortal danger at the moment which is why I am waiting until tomorrow as shes eating and playing.... she snatched some mint off me a minute ago... I will not be sleeping tonight....

Sending all good vibes for Yuki.

I know we've 'spoke' before about EC and treatment for buns. Apart from panacur, metacam is a must if it is EC as this helps to lessen the inflammation in the brain etc caused by the horrible parasite. As I understand it, the sooner you can get metacam in to them, the better.

Hope Yuki and you are OK

I did they said if shes eating and drinking and pooing fine it would be better to make an emergency appointment in the morning

i feel sick >_<

id like her to have an xray to rule out spinal fracture due to muscle and bone deterioration which is a possibility due to ec, but I am terrified that if it is a medical/Immunol thing that antithetic will....

I know i need to take it one step at a time and see if the panacur, metacam etc... they will give me tomorrow starts improving her condition, if not take it from there.... poor mite may have to go in the "hospital" dog cart to reduce her movement/stress on her legs

I hope the Vet can help her to regain better mobility. I dont know her history, has she had 'active' EC before ?

Yeah but shue usually has a head tilt with some wandering of the left leg

Need to find a better vets as there isn't a vet who's rabbit savvy enough.... He said if her hind leg becomes paralysed he'd recommend pts and said if I asked now he would do it :( wtf!

She's been given metacam and panacur

I don't know what to do anyone know a rabbit savvy vet that would be good for ec and mobility/ bone and muscle or paralysis

Pop up a thread in 'rabbit chat' Rabbit Savvy Vet Needed for possible EC/Mobility issue in <your area> More people will see it then.

Loads of vibes for Yuki :(

Hey guys

I am trying to do whats best for her, the vets near me are rubbish for anything non standard, I was consulting with ashley vets in manchester for more complicated things, but would like to find a vets that can tackle her leg issues, I am giving her metacam and panacur, pleanty of food etc... if it is ec causing the leg issues she should improve if not then the issues need to be tackled differently...

so I need specialists for paralysis/ loss of control of hind legs if thats the case,

she is eating and grooming, pooing and grooming yuri and me she snatches mint of me in her usual way.

I am doing all I can I have a set up in the living room with them both in so not to stress either of them out with being separated, I feel terrible for yuri as she hasnt got as much space but she really looks after yuki and yuki is much happier around her, I have put toys in for Yuri.

at night I stick the pen in their room with yuki in it and yuri free to run around the room as yuki as issues getting about and its more comfortable for her to be in the pen with lots of padding, blankets and things to lean against. yuri can bounce in and out of the pen as she pleases and visit.

I am working on a harness type thing to help yuki get strength back which I will walk her around in a few times a day, I am saving up for a treatment + wheelchair in case she needs that.

They both are getting pleanty of attention and yuki loves cuddles which shes getting lots off

My main goal is to get her weight back up and get meds in her to see if they help.

due to the legs she is wetting herself lots so I had her bottom shaved which is sore, which I am treating with sudocream....

No matter how much effort I am putting in I feel like im not doing enough but I am not sure what more I can do >_<

any suggestions on how to help her more what actions to take?

I am sorry yuki has deteriorated.

My suggestion would be xrays to rule out spinal or joint issues

Then look into finding a vet that offers acupuncture and an animal physio who can also advise you on the best exercises to do to strengthen her legs without causing pain or further injury.

Best of luck x
