Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

dry flakey skin

New Kit
My 2year old dwarf lop Lola has recently had a rough time. She had all her teeth removed bar 2 at the back due to an infected abcess. She manages well - she loves her greens and dry food. Recently I've been on holiday so left her for a week with my Mam at her house (which she is familiar with). She lives indoors - always has done but has free rein of the garden. Upon my return I've noticed she is moulting hurrendously!!! Huge clumps of fur like tumble weed everywhere! She does not have any bald patches. I brush her at least weekly - having no front teeth she's unable to pull and groom her own fur. Today I've noticed she had dry flakey skin on her back (nothing around her ears or neck) after brushing her its sat on top of her fur like dandruff.....any suggestions?

My 2 rabbits had the same problem about a week - regarding the flakey skin and moulting alot. I took them to the vets and they had a very mild case of mites (which apparently is common and nothing too serious) they gave me some spot on there and then and now over a week later they are completely fine :)

Yep sounds like mites to me. Vets can sort it quite easily (and can double check the diagnosis) I normally use a rabbit version of spot on that you can buy at most pet shops to make sure they don't come back as they can be carried in the hay.
