Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Milo always has a dirty bum advice needed (ec related)

Hi all,

I lost Tilly to EC last winter and soon after Milo started with eye rolling, Head Tilt , he had the 28 day dose of panacur as did my other rabbit Marley,(who had and still has no symptoms) Milo is much better now but has been left with incontinence, I have to keep an eye on his rear end as it's often wet and just lately his poo's are very loose.

My rabbits have a very large Happy Hutch which is attached to another large hutch and run, and I am starting to worry now the winter months are ahead of us because although he has a huge living area he no longer goes up the ramps to go inside his hutch, he stays on the lower level, which is on the concrete, and although does have a cover, the concrete still gets wet, it does have a raised platform area which has a large litter tray in, my concerns are that he will be too cold and wet because of the incontinence.

I could close him off into the top part of the hutch, but that wouldn't be fair on Marley . It is also very difficult to get hold of him as his runs are very low (but big) and makes it very difficult for me as he tries to evade me (not good on my back).
I don't know what would be best, (maybe a smaller set up)?
If anyone has any ideas for me I would be very grateful, I also would like some advice on his feeding to help with his loose poos, should I feed less fresh food and less pellets and feed more Hay ? (they always have a fresh supply).
Any help would be fantastic,
Thanks in advance

I can only give a bit advice on diet - which is bucketloads of hay! Should be 80-90% of a rabbit's diet, with pellets being given only as a top up 'treat' - ie an eggcupful a day is generally recommended. If you feed more than that, I would gradually reduce.

Avoid carrots and fruit, and people generally only feed spring greens etc in small amounts (although mine do eat a lot of veg). Herbs are good and generally popular.

My two rarely go up to their house - and their run is on concrete. They much prefer to stay down there or down the tunnels they dig in the large raised bed I've given over to them.

They have fresh unlimited hay every day, but they are having more pellets than an egg cup full, so i will cut back and see if it helps, thanks,
