Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi I have another thread in housing but someone suggested posting in here as well as its a double problem.
http://forums.rabbitrehome.org.uk/showthread.php?353453-moving-chesty-bun-inside-permanently

Ok so some of you will know me I've been bit sporadic over last few months lots going on but again I have been given the opportunity to look after a lovely bun with a lot of problems (some of you may remember Finley) now Evan has been having issues with breathing since march diagnosed with all sorts pasturella, pneumonia etc but having taken him to a specialist its been found that he has scarring in one lung and his other is consolidated so not working really he also can't eat anything concentrated as he gets bloat. So only hay & little veg diet.

Ok so he isn't able to be hugely active and here where I am It's very cold in Autumn/winter and as his chest isn't great so he needs to come inside also how can I help him to exercise more as even on the hay veg diet he seems to err toward the heavy side. Sorry for the long winded post but he's only just over a year and after Finley & the loss of my mum I just worry about him.

How much permanent space does he have indoors? Do you let him free range at all and if so what times of day?

He has two 4ft dog crates joined together and he has access to whole house
Code:
for an hour in the morning and 4 hours at night can't let him in to pen or anything without supervision as he escapes and gets breathless
