Hi there - quick question looking for advice!

We recently adopted a lovely rabbit who was kept in a conservatory but we were told would be fine outside. We have had him over a week and kept him in an outdoor hutch in our back garden. He seems to have settled into it fine (is sleeping, eating, drinking and doing poo great) and seems to be great in our attention.

We are worrying though in case he is sometimes too cold as we have had solid rain and wind pretty much the past 3 days and it is forecast to continue into next week. From the advice of you guys on here already, we planned to keep him outdoors for a few more weeks until Autumn came and then move him into a SummerHouse we have in our garden which would keep him more sheltered and more like the conservatory he was in before.

However - because its so rainy we have decided just to do it now.

What I am wondering though - is if it would be best putting his previous indoor cage inside the summer house as he was in this for a while before and has obviously been comfortable in it, or should we put the outdoor hutch inside the summer house instead?

In terms of shelter both has areas in which he can 'hide' in which he uses to sleep, but we are thinking the indoor cage might make him more comfortable and then we could keep the outdoor hutch outside and open too and connect it to the summer house for him to go into on other days if he wished when out in his run.

What do you think?

Indoor cage in the summer house for him, or keep him in the outdoor hutch but put him in the summer house?

He will have access to the summer house and we have also built his pen in around it too so in effect he has a giant pen now.

We decided to go with the outdoor hutch, think the indoor hutch would probably be okay for now as it isnt freezing cold out there or anything but come the Winter months the extra shelter from the outdoor hutch would probably be best - so its easier to keep him in that full time rather than switching and swapping him all the time... especially as he has settled into it so well comign here.

When I had a rabbit with a base in the conservatory, she just had a plastic carrier filled with hay as her "hutch".

Thanks Lily
This isnt actually a consveratory though - its a summerhouse in my back garden a bit like a shed.

If it was a conservatory it would jsut be the indoor cage as it would obviously have indoor heating etc. to keep him warm, whereas whilst the summer house is much more sheltered from the elements their isnt the same heat or ability for him to cuddle into his bedding in the enclosed part of his outdoor hutch - particularly for the winter months.

A carrier filled with hay would still provide enough warmth in the summerhouse, even in the winter.
