Elyse is Injured :-(

Jack's-Jane

Wise Old Thumper
She may have broken a bone in her left hind foot  She cannot put any weight on it and it is very swollen  Laura wants her on Metacam for 48 hours and Elyse is also all bandaged up to immobilise her toes. She will have Xrays on Wednesday if there is no improvement

Awwwww Bobes sends her vibes as she knows fine well what a break is like  6 weeks ago Bo decided to do a leap of faith out of my arms and over my shoulder, unlucky for her she fell about 5-6 foot on to my bathroom floor. After an emergency trip to a vets which i hate and back to her normal vets the next day, she was x-rayed and found to have a bad fracture. At first before the vet x-rayed her it was a case of amputate, specialist surgery in Liverpool (2 and a bit hours away) or put her to sleep  Then when we went to collect her after her GA the vet said it took her 4 attempts at knocking her out as she is a tough and stubborn little cookie and suggested cage confinement for 6 weeks!! Imagine our relief when she said that!!!! So we had to take hher back a week later, and the vet was amazed at her...she was using her bad leg  So 4 weeks later we took her back again and the vet was uterly amazed and said she can come off cage confinement!

Bo is doing brilliantly, albeit her leg has healed deformed as i sticks out (she looks like Thumper) but she is hopping about like nothing has happened! Its a tragic thing when something like this happens, but there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Oh no poor Elyse!

Fingers crossed it's nothing major and she's feeling better soon.

Thanks everyone. I hope that by tomorrow morning she will show some improvement. I really cannot figure out how she has managed to injure herself in the first place :?

I hope it turns out to be nothing serious, but I sympathise with her if it is a sprain it can be very painful.

Elyse's foot is slightly less swollen now and she will occasionally take weight on it. Laura thinks she has damaged the ligaments around her toes and if so this will take several weeks to fully resolve. Elyse is having her foot soaked in a bowl of cold water or having an iced bottle of water placed over her foot for a few minutes. She is also on Metacam.

Here are a few photos taken this morning

I'm so glad your gorgeous girl is improving!
Sending more vibes xxx
With regards to the cause of her injury, all I can think of is that rex bunnies do not exactly stay away from trouble.
