  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I am really looking for some advice and vibes for helping my bo.
He has had illness after illness and we are now heading to the vets every week with one issue then another. Firstly he was self mutilating for no explained reason and just as we had him booked to see the sepecialist in the midlands he stopped doing it. He then developed hind leg weekness after having his yearly vaccs which i have had x- rays done and only slight arthritis could be found which would not be enough to cause such obvious weakness.Yesterday was another vet trip as he had fly strike which i luckily caught in time and he is now being treated for and kept inside(i think its due to his imobility when on the grass), but more worrying than all these is his sudden weight loss. The blood test showed a lack in protien so maybe this is the cause. I am trying to fatten him up with baby food at the min but it looks like another vet trip is in order as the vet thinks it maybe tumours for which there is no hope. Can anyone give any suggestions how to help my poorly little fighter?:(
