  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

impaction?

Anyone know how long impaction lumps can take to go away?
Poppy first got impaction (stomach and caecum) 6 weeks ago and was on a drip for 2 days, 2 weeks later it happened again. We suspect it was due to her snuffles making her feel bad. Anyway 4 weeks of daily Engymycin injections and other meds (grudually weaned her off cisapride, metacam, metaclopramide, zantac and vetergesic) and she is back to herself, eating, drinking pooing and no nore snuffles, she has been off all meds since yesterday which was her last metacam and engymycin.

Anyway to cut a long story short she still has a lump in her belly, I think it is her stomach and not caecum now. She has 20ml of fluids orally morning and evening. I am worried it is something more sinister. She will be seeing the vet tomorrow anyway. Just worried about her :(

Are you sure you mean the lump is in her stomach ?? :?

Could it be a mesenteric lymph node that you are feeling ?

I'm not sure, she isn't being very cooperative and letting me feel very well, it feels in the stomach area. What could it mean if it is the gland?

It could mean several things or nothing !!

I'd try not to stress about 'what ifs' and see what the Vet's findings are tomorrow :)

Easier said than done I know xx

I know! My normal vet is on holdiay until Monday and my back up vet is day off, so she is coming to work with me for possible xrays and some more bloods.

Thanks Jane :) xx

Where are you feeling the lump exactly?

I kept feeling a lump on Bella's left side (when sat facing away from me) and got really worried about tumours etc., only to be told by the vet it was her stomach which was probably full due to her just having eaten

She I coming in for xrays tomorrow, was hoping to do it today but work was crazy, then she is having an ultrasound on friday with my back up vet (we had a long chat today). She is still fine and lively and eating. I am not experienced enough to be able to say where the lump really is but all I know is that my others don't have the lump. Really really worried.
