  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Worth neutering?

Freddy is about 6 and is unneutered, for my birthday (the 27th) I've got him a shed and I won't have enough money left over to get him neutered so it would be Christmas before I'll be able to but would it be worth doing? I won't be able to get him a companion, so would it be better to use the money to get a bigger run, vaccinations and other things?

I personally think that for your situation vaccinations and a run will be a better option if there's no chance of getting him a friend as at least then he's safe from myxi and vhd and will have more space to run around and enjoy himself.
How is Freddy? Has he moved to your dad's yet? (I think I remember you saying you were moving him to your dad's)

Yeah, I don't think that I will be able to get another rabbit, even though my dad is willing to take Freddy on, he doesn't really want two rabbits.

The shed arrived a few days ago and we're going to put it up on Saturday and buy things to put in it on Sunday :D I'm not sure when Freddy is moving in, probably in a week or so. :thumb:

I agree, vaccs and run! :D How exciting for you :D You will notice a difference in Freddy once he has settled I'm sure
