The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Rabbit Mother - HELP

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can help as I'm a bit worried.

When I first got my rabbits I was told they were both females, until a few months later, I noticed one was actually male(who is now neutered). The doe(who is a giant continental) has given birth to around 10 kits. A few days before giving birth she started gathering hay in her mouth and built a large nest in her hutch and has also pulled out the fur under her belly and hidden the kits under this.

She gave birth between Wednesday night and Thursday morning and the kits seem to be getting smaller and I'm not sure if she is feeding them. I don't know whether I'm being paranoid so I thought if I uploaded some pics someone might know better if they are not being fed? I'm also not 100% sure if she is producing milk, I tried to check but couldn't see any fluid. I'm going to try and take her to the vet tomorrow also.

The pics are on http://www.flickr.com/photos/84218260@N05/

Thanks

Thanks for your help and info, Mum and dad are living separately and dad isn't allowed near the mum's hutch now. She does have unlimited hay pellets fresh veg and fruit and has been eating lots more than usual. I'm just not sure if she is producing milk as I couldnt get any out when I tried :( .. I'm going to try some of the steps in the link you gave, hope they survive
