  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Is this normal?? Special poo question.

Milly is now just over 3 months old and recently I have noticed the odd special poop in her cage near her normal ones. She is not unwell and is no different in herself, she is still a little tinker.

Is this normal to just find the odd one??

Are they squishy, like the caecals (sp?) ? I've been wondering the same thing myself as I've just found a few on top of the pile of normal poops, both buns seem fine in themselves so I have no clue what's caused it :?

Yeah the squish poo that looks like a miniture bunch of grapes. I just call them special poops cause I can't pronounce it. There is the odd one or two near her normal poops.

They would normally eat these (as you know) - but perhaps the odd stray one is nothing to worry about. It is something I would keep an eye on (as it were!)

These should usually be eaten so you shouldn't see them left around the hutch. Sometimes it can be that they have had too many pellets or grss or veg, perhaps a new food that has made them taste different. Keep a close eye to ensure things quickly return to normal. A day or two on hay and water only is sometimes necessary to get back to normal.
