  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Ginger; a bit of an update

Just for any of those who follow Ginger at all and to be fair, just to get it written down.

We finally (after a good awful delay, admin error) had the results of Ginger's blood tests back yesterday. I've not seen the results, just a summary over the telephone with our vet.

Kidney function is still impaired, but is considerably better than it has been. She's still managing it on her own, no treatment. This is good news as its the first one we've had done in a fair while, as we dont stress her unless required.

Snuffles are still there and always will be, but we're doing well with it, bit of a blip during the recent hot weather as she can't cope with it, but now its cooled again, we're in a much better place. Again, no treatment except the daily metacam she is on which doubles for her teeth.

Most importantly, she's still Gingery. She still has an awesome (in my opinion) quality of life compared to a lot of buns.

She's bright, cheeky, a terror, inquisitive etc. All good signs :)

So yeah, that's where we are at. Just a little update :)

Im sure her good health and quality of life is in no small part down to you Gray, that really needs to be said :)
