  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Well we have not had a great start to having our first bunnies :( Poor Sootie are 11 week old mini lop had to be taken to the vets yesterday as he had stopped eating and was not moving much. I was told he is full of wind, sorry can't rememeber the exact term and it can be very dangourous in baby rabbits, they kept him in yesterday and I was told he might not make it through the night. I looked after him through the night and he has started eating and drinking again and seems alot better this morning, back to the vets this morning so fingers crossed for Sootie and me. The only thing I am worried about is he still has a runny bottom and had some jelly consistant clear stuff coming out of his bottom and I wondered if it might be the recovery powder I was given to put in his water, he has drunk quite a lot?.

Hope you get on ok at the vets this morning.

Just wondering whether it is diet related. What are you feeding them?

Yes I think it is diet related :(, I have tried him on the older pellets a bit too soon. He's on just hay and dandelian leaves now and a tasty pear the vets gave him.
