Hoppit!

Wise Old Thumper
I went to get Pickle from the shed this morning, to take him to my room as I always do. He wouldn't let me pick him up which is quite unusual. I gently sat him up and had a look at his tummy and found he has the biggest tumor imagainable. It's all black and swollen. It's so big I can't imagine there's anything that can be done, but I've rung my siister and she's coming out to him. I can't understand how I missed it before. I hate myself.

Oh dear. :( I'll keep you and Pickle in my prayers that it's something easily sorted and not as serious as it appears.

Katie came straight away I phoned her. She had a good look and said she didn't think it was a tumor at all! *Huge sigh of relief* She said it seemed to be his skin rather than a growth underneath that had ruptured, which is what I'd thought. The swelling seems to have gone right down since I gave him metacam this morning, but it still looks ever so sore. His temperature is fine so Katie doesn't think it's an infection. Do you think it might be ringworm? Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

It looks bruised?
could he have tried Jumping something he shouldnt and caught himself?

It's possible but unlikely - he pretty much knows his limits, and now he's 9 he doesn't jump much. He skin is also really rough and bumpy, like a scab. Katie wondered if maybe it's a reaction to an insect bite or something. It's just so big.

:shock: Ooooh that looks nasty! Has the vet seen it? I think I would be wanting a definate diagnosis on that:wave:

My sister is a vet, which is why I called her. She's not that rabbit savvy so I usually take Pickles to see her colleague, but I think he's stumped too. I'd really like him to be referred to a specialist but I don't know that there are any round here.

Pickles isn't eating today, and is very quiet. I've texted Katie to ask her advice, but I don't think he's going to be with m much longer.

I would get him straight back to the Vet now

That may well be a traumatic injury which could involve damage to his Liver

I really really would not hang about with this one

Please don't take this the wrong way, but as a vet did she prescribe anything for him?
I personally would be wanting some treatment for this ASAP, it looks so sore.
He probably needs pain relief at the very least.
