LEAVING SHORTLY - Rabbit with broken back finds her forever home

suzibunbun

Mama Doe
I was in Pets at home - Sealand Road, Chester at lunchtime today and there is a sign up in the Adoption section - 2 year old dwarf lop named Honey needs a home, special needs, ask member of staff. I asked and spoke to Leanne who brought Honey out from the back, she's been there 4 months ???? and was brought in by a lady who said she could no longer look after her. Honey was really really skinny and bony and was taken to the vets and tested for various things and also vaccinated etc. After an x-ray it was found that her lower back has a bad break in it - no explanation from owner as to how it has happened. Honey is on metacam daily and can run about but is apparently incontinent and needs washes. She was very clean today and has put on weight. She is such a friendly, gentle and loving little soul and needs a home without young children really as possibly she was dropped??!! Can anyone help as being stuck in the store is not ideal for her although she does get attention and vet care at the moment.

have you got any photos of the bun?

Oh shucks - I should have taken a photo but never thought:( She is a light brown and dark brown medium sized dwarf lop (dark ears and nose) She honestly runs around fine despite this severe injury - unlike beautiful Trevor bless her - not knowing about injuries this bad I can only relay what I was told - she is a real sweetie though, snuggly and friendly - she just needs someone with specialist care and knowledge to give her the best. Might be best to phone P@H and ask about Honey the special bun in the adoption area out back :)

I suggested liz as spinal injuries can get worse and start to affect mobility later in life

If i wasnt in the process of trying to rescue another special needs bun I would have snapped this little one up but thinking about it sensibly I have to say no :(

I will help in anyway I can though

Feel so sad about this bun -:cry: - I do hope she finds a loving and caring owner and feel so sad I can't help her

Ah bless, I hope someone can take her. I havent any room but would make a monthly donation to anyone who takes her towards her meds x

Really? I haven't heard from Theo and Honey is still at the store as I have just phoned to check (bless her) Theo has the baby bun with the broken leg - this is a dwarf lop aged 2 approx with a broken back

Sorry I can't help with her just now. we need to spend all our time with Humphrey right now. The bunnies we already have here have to be our number one priority and we must not spread ourselves too thinly by offering homes to all the special needs buns advertised. I am sure you understand xx

Thanks Sue. It wasn't necessarily aimed at you. I have had a lot of PMS asking if I can help bunny some kindly offering to help with transport and I have felt bad saying no to them all x

Absolutely understand - you know I fully support you and what you do Liz - always x

Cross wires I'm afraid - there is another Honey rabbit at P@H in another branch now having much needed help. The rabbit I saw isn't this one - 'my' Honey is still at Chester and still needing a proper home
