rspca home inspection - what can i expect

enfieldgirl

Young Bun
have my home inspection tomorrow and really excited as i have reserved 2 rabbits to choose from, just wondring what i can expect and what they look for , have nothing to hide just curious, also do they make a desision there and then or do you have to wait ?

They will want to see where the bunnies are going to live, and just chat about bunny care, they just want to make sure you understand the responsibility of taking on pets and that everything is going to be ok for the bunnies.

Our RSPCA home checker had no experience with rabbits at all, was a lovely lady, but normally just checked for cats and dogs! She had a list of things to check but really all she was making sure of was that there was a suitably sized hutch and run, that was all, it was far more basic than many specialist rabbit rescues would do, that said, all RSPCA's are very different, you might get someone who is a lot more knowledgeable! :D:wave:

ETA good luck, don't stress, just make sure it is all set up ready rather than 'I intend to do this etc.' She phoned the centre the next day and then we phoned them after that and booked a time to collect our rabbit.

thanks for the replies, our set up is near completetion just need to add the run to the shed but we have them all built so the inspecter can see them, feel nervous and yet i have had and have rabbits and 2 dogs so he will see there all well cared for, fingers crossed i will update later :)

We had an RSPCA inspection just over a month ago.
Lady sat and had a cuppa and cooed over our existing rabbit and chatted about her pets!
Looked outside and saw we had a run, THAT WAS IT!
I was stressing about it for ages, I need not had!

I agree with PrettyLupin about making sure you're ready. I'm not sure what other home visitors do, but I would far rather see everything as it will be, otherwise it can delay adoption.

Good luck :) I hope all goes well for you.

Ours measured the hutch and run etc. asked about diet and also asked to see our other pets so I had to call the cat in (who came bounding up the garden beautifully demonstrating what a happy much loved pet he is). She also wanted to see his vaccination card.

well a lovely retired man came and saw us , i showed him our set up , he came in the house had a cup of tea and a chat , asked me about my other pets (2 dogs who he luved), we filled out some paperwork and that was it. i was so nervous i spilt his tea,, fingers crossed should find out result soon :thumb:
