Is Walter underweight

Hi everyone,

Walter is a dutch cross who is around 8 months old. I got him from a rescue about 6 weeks ago.

I just wondered whether he is a bit underweight. He weighs around 1.1kg at the vets 2 weeks ago.

He had a possible episode of stasis that he was treated as though he did have stasis when he came to me, as he s very anxious and I wasn't sure he was eating. Since that he eats well, he eats his hay, pellets, and fruit and veg forage.

Lola his wifey is possibly a bit greedy, but I try and give them their pellets/fruit/veg separately so I think they get about even!

The only reason I ask is because he feels very bony. I can feel his spine, and his hips quite clearly. Lola is a mini lop and she feels quite bulky (she isn't fat though!), I know part of it is their breed (in that their shapes are different).

I'm not sure whether he was underweight when he came to me and whether he just hasn't gained.

The other reason I ask is because Lola's poos are beautiful, perfect big, golden poos! But Walters are small and a bit darker, they look a bit more compacted. They aren't as nice as hers. No caecotrophs at all.

Could anyone give me some advice, or just some reassurance!

to me dutches always look quite slender, but im not a dutch bunny mummy soo wouldn;t know, i have mini lops too, but a statis episode could of caused abit of weght loss, can you wegh him weekly to keep check on him, did the vet say if he is underweght, he is still quite young soo still some filling out to do

call your local vets and they will be able to tell you what his weight should be for his age/breed - hope this helps :)
