Trevor's first Acupuncture session

Hugo's There

Wise Old Thumper
Trevor now has a more hectic schedule than either me or Steve

She had her first acupuncture session at home today with Sarah. She was a little wiggle pants for the first half and had to be bribed to even stay on the table with many treats! But for the second half she spent sound asleep with her back legs hanging from the table

She has a lot of tension in her front shoulders which is completely understandable, but her back is fine.

Like Esther, Sarah felt Trevor had an excellent quality of life, was very happy and generally enjoyed living - she couldn't believe the doom and gloom in Trevor's vet notes. She was pleased with Trevor's over all condition and believes that even if Trevor doesn't regain the use of her legs if she stays how she is medically then she can still have a good quality of life as long as we are prepared to put the work in ( which of course we are  ) Trevor needs as much intensive treatment as possible so she has another session booked for next Tuesday. Sarah also wants to be kept up to date via email of any improvements trevor shows :D

As Sarah also practices as a normal vet in between acupuncture we did start discussing whether a referral to a specialist would be any use to Trevor and she basically told us what we suspected at the start. That a rabbit specialist would only advise to do what we are doing and would not recommend spinal surgery on a rabbit, and an orthopaedic specialist may well want to push ahead with spinal surgery but wouldn't have enough specialist rabbit knowledge to make it the successful or even the right choice. So at least now we know that there is nothing else medically we can do for Trevor, its just going to be hard work at home for her :D

Sarah also said she would be reporting back next week to Juliet about Trevor and make sure she knows that things are much more positive than she thinks and she is sure Esther will do the same so hopefully we will be able to stick with Juliet as our normal vet for Trevor :D

I know how you feel about schedules!!

When we had Florence our 3 legged bun she was always off to a chiropracter appt or physio or vet . . .

And now Parsley has vets once a week and Animal Health Trust every fortnight, and he did a photo session last week - not to mention his blogs and tweets!!! I cant keep up with him!

I think for Trevor it will be fantastic to have so much attention - she must feel like her life is now absolutely turned round!!!!
