Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

My rabbit has stopped drinking and eating, he is still pooing but the poo's are an ash colour which makes me believe he is dehydrated, iv managed to get him to eat some lettuce (not iceberg), and he seems to be eating his hay, it only early stages but it's just worrying with him usually eating a full bowl, any ideas of what I can do or try, all help appreciated :)

Call a vet or take him to a vet now, he could go downhill very very quickly, not eating is very serious for buns. It's good that he's having a nibble and still pooing but worth getting it checked out properly just in case

If he has stopped eating and drinking, and you think he might be dehydrated, I think he needs to see a vet asap. Being Saturday afternoon there should still be vets open, whereas if you leave it til later to see how he is doing, then you will probably have to go out of hours which will be very expensive. Even though you think you've noticed it early, GI stasis is serious and the earlier it is caught the better, gives bunny much quicker chance of recovery, and without vet treatment they can go downhill very quickly and most likely be in some discomfort.

Good luck.

I hope you can get bunny to a vet today. Not eating is much more serious in rabbits than in some other animals becuase their digestive system is designed to be constantly working. Best of luck.

If you cant get him to the vets try mushing up some banana and try getting him to eat that.

Also try dipping your finger in the water and letting him lick it off this usually entices my buns to drink more.

But do try and get him to a vet asap!!

xx
