  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Our new little girl has been sneezing since we brought her home. I will be taking her to the vets to get her checked. But do you think it might just be the hay making her sneeze??

Hello there. I doubt it would be the hay unless it is particularly dusty. Where did you get her from, I wonder as the same thing happened to me. She recovered ok and I never found out why. It would be good idea to take her to a vet. Hope she improves soon.

True allegies in bunnies are rare although they do happen. Its more likely she has the onset of a respitory infection so you are doing the right thing in taking her to the vets.

She is a bun we were asked to take because her owners didn't want her any more.

What is she bedded on?

She is on newspaper and hay.

The hay I get is from a local pet shop that have a deal with a farm in Devon to sell hay up here for them. I have snuffles bun and this is the only hay that doesn't cause him to sneeze.
