Help needed :-( breaks my heart...but....

Good Morning All.

Its been a while since I posted on here. Pip & Rusty are doing very well.

I have a gorgeous bonded pair of Rabbits, Pip & Rusty. Both are in good health, and vaccinated up to date. They are 2 and a bit years old, and live outdoors, but have had spells inside at times and adapted quite well. They are very good and use their litter tray 90% of the time.

Unfortunately my circumstances have changed, my sister is going to University in October and she helps me with the care of the rabbits. I have to attend exhibitions with work for a few days at a time, and unfortunately when colleagues of mine have left, due to the economic climate they have not been replaced and I am now expected to attend lots of these.

I therefore am not at home enough to ensure the rabbits are cared for properly, and as of October my sister won’t be able to help me out (as I am often away 2-3 days at a time). I am devastated to have to consider the option of finding them a new home, but it’s in their best interests.

Please please I don’t want anybody to post and make me feel any worse than I already do. They are my babies, especially Pip who I still remember being the size of my hand when we got her. But I have to put my own feelings aside and think about what is best for them. I could maybe get a neighbour to come n feed them but that’s not ideal, I wouldn’t be happy leaving them for so long without proper care and I cant afford the time or expense of driving an hour to my boarding place everytime I am away with work or there until late (sometimes out from 8am till 12pm! – never was a problem with my sister about!).

I am based in North London, but am willing to travel anywhere for the right Rescue/Rehoming Centre to take them in, as I love them to bits and only the best will suffice :)

So I just wondered if anybody can advise on what places are good, and if there is a waiting list etc. I am happy to make a donation, and will continue to support the Rescue buying xmas cards, odd donations here n there thereafter etc too, plus will donate their hutch & toys etc.

Alternatively (huge shot in the dark!) if any bunny lovers on here were interested on taking them on, then I would consider that also, but obviously checks would be made.

Thank you for taking the time to read this xxxxxxxxx

I think you may need to contact SOAD on here. She can sort out a proper rehome thread.

Im so sorry. You must have thought long and hard about this.

If you want the buns listing in the In Need section please pm SOAD and she will be able to do this for you. You have probably thought of this but is a house sitter an option or someone to come twice a day to feed while you are away?

Thank you - here they are  sorry for overload!

Pip is the Grey & White & Rusty is the Brown & White

This was last week when they were at Nutwood Bunnies boarding while I was on Holiday.

 Absolutely gorgeous buns - I have such a soft spot for a dutchie - very intelligent and inquisitive buns

Just one thing - didn't you get him from the RSPCA in Middlesex? If so, I'm pretty sure that one of the conditions of the adoption agreement is that you contact them if you can no longer care for him.

Good luck with what must have been a very tough decision.

Thanks all. I would love to consider a house sitter, but I wouldnt be confident that they would know how to properly keep an eye on them & spot signs etc if I am away for 3 days.

Luvabun, I did indeed get Rusty from the RSPCA Middlesex. When I get in tonight I will read through my adoption pack, but my main concern is I know they dont actually have somewhere the rabbits are kept, they are all fostered, and while they may have loyalty to Rusty - they may not take Pip & I could not break the pair.

My plan is to maybe line something up and contact them for their approval if that makes sense. As I personally would feel happier if they went to a specialised rabbit rescue, in case the RSPCA where he came from has no room for both - and when visiting some other RSPCA branches where rabbits were kept on site, the accomodation wasnt really very nice :( so unless they could take them both, which I understand is difficult as they are in foster homes, I am hopeful when i speak to them that they will allow me to place them elsewhere. x

 That's good and they shouldn't even consider breaking up a bonded pair for a millisecond.

Good luck

I've already replied on your other thread.

But didn't want people to think that no-one had noticed your sad plea.

I hope you manage to get something sorted which will benefit all of you.

Best of luck.:thumb:

What a horrible situation to be in. I hope you can sort things in a way that works for you and the buns. Best wishes to you.
