  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rosy's limping?

Rosy posy is limping slightly, noticed it about 30 minutes ago. She's still hopping about and that but shes not putting weight on it? Have had a look and no obvious injury but she's not comfortable on it. Do we need to take her to the vets now or should we wait to see if she recovers?

You should take her to be checked out, they can give her pain relief as it's obviously hurting her. My Daisy was like that not long ago, it turned out she had caught one of her claws and the skin at the base of the claw was really red and inflamed. She had some metacam (anti-inflammatory pain killer) and was fine in a couple of days. The vet might find something that you can't see

Got her a vet appointment, for 3.15. Is this too late? She's in the kitchen with her husbun, hay and a fan so the stress is minimal. Mum says she can wait but tbh I really wish she could go sooner, the other slap alternative is to try another vet??
