Hi
Alice is very poorly at the moment. She has been on intermittent steroids for 10 months as a last resort for her chronic pain and stasis caused by a thickening of the lining of her stomach. She rarely stops eating and drinking despite the pain and I feel this is what has kept her going.
The steroids have worked since Last August with other meds in between but this week they don't seem to be working.
She was admitted to the vets overnight on Friday and she appeared to improve with vetergesic and metaclop and came home yesterday.
Unfortunately within a couple of hours of being home the pain killer had worn off and I had a subdued and uncomfortable Alice with very malformed droppings.
I have managed to get her pain and output under control with a high dose of metacam, syringe feeding, metaclop and ranitidine but she is clearly not great.
I know there aren't really any options left for her but I would like to try and keep her going unti Wednesday when my vet is open again as he knows her so well and if she has to be PTS I would prefer it to be by him and he would be considerate of my other bunny Oliver's needs.
Obviously, if she worsens I won't have any choice but to call an emergency vet.
I am being the best nurse I can be and giving her lots of cuddles.
